Description
Pretty circular Victorian period silver brooch with subtle gilt. Decorated with detailed scroll work done by hand in the centre, it’s very likely that it once had a glass section at the back to house a photo or lock of hair.
The piece dates from around 1880-1890 and although not hallmarked, it is silver. These period pieces had a very distinctive style.
It measures 3cm in diameter and the pin protrudes slightly beyond the setting, also typical of brooches made during the Victorian period.
It is very light in weight and has gilding (gold plating) to the border and back.
The pin is secure.
