This marquise shaped Garnet and Pearl brooch is set in hallmarked 8ct Gold. The standard mark for 8ct is 333 which is stamped on the pin and means that the actual gold content is 33%. This actually makes the gold very durable as the higher the carat, the softer the metal.
This piece is a classic combination of faceted Garnets and Pearls and was probably made in Eastern Europe in around the 1930’s – 1950’s. Each stone and pearl is claw set and secure. The back is open to allow the natural light to pass through the stones. The pin is fitted with a safety catch, a common practice for valuable pieces of jewellery. The pin is not visible once it’s attached to an item of clothing.
It measures 42mm long x 19mm wide.
A timeless and classic accessory.
