Description
Hand carved French bull’s head tobacco pipe with the insignia RAOB which stands for the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes.
The horns are made of genuine buffalo horn and it has a pair of glass eyes. The stem is possibly made of bakelite (I will test and confirm) and the pipe very likely dates from the 1930’s Art Deco period. The overall condition is very good for it’s age and considering it’s been used.
It measures 18.5cm in length x 4cm across the face. The overall width including the horns is 9cm.
It’s certainly one of the finest examples I have come across and a great collector’s item.
