Description
Large Cut Crystal Inkwell with an English hallmarked lid and scrolled decoration. It carries a Birmingham hallmark for 1893 and the maker’s marks HM.
The top of the domed lid has a Griffon engraved on it. There is some floral decoration to the lid amongst detailed scroll patterning. The silver fretwork covers approximately one third of the crystal base. Aside from a small dent to the left of the lid, the silver is in a very good condition. The hinge is secure which is important. There is a very tiny chip to the base of the crystal which is barely noticeable to the naked eye.
The dimensions are 9.3cm in height with the base measuring 8.6cm in diameter.
This inkwell would look stunning on a lady’s or gentleman’s desk.
